Story
Summary
Shaolin has always been
prized for its ability to produce the greatest
fighters the world has ever seen. For centuries
men and women have waited patiently outside
of the gates of the Temples of the five provinces
hoping to be invited in to train. Because so
much martial prowess was to be gained by getting
in and training, the world’s greatest
warriors have sought entry into the temples
by pretending to have been victims of tyranny,
only to turn and leave once they have gained
the skills they need to make them unstoppable.
These warriors have become a blight that must
be dealt with before more innocents fall at
their hands and the world itself is brought
to its knees by the greatest renegade from Shaolin,
his name is Master Kahli.
Master
Kahli was once a great monk who was well on
his way to becoming the next in line to be the
youngest abbot ever of a temple. Thinking he
was trustworthy, the then abbot, Grand Master
Fa, decided to teach his young charge one of
the two forgotten bloodline techniques. This
was a great
honor
and a great risk since only one man now retained
the knowledge of both techniques, and any person
who became fluent in one of the two could only
be stopped by someone who was just as skilled
in the other. Grand Master Fa decided that Kahli
was worth the risk, for he saw in him a greatness
that he hoped would one day bring Shaolin back
to the forefront in a world that because of
technology was beginning to forget them. So,
Fa taught the young monk the fierce Shadow of
Buddha. Kahli trained very hard and quickly
began mastering the intricate bloodline technique.
Grand Master Fa
trained him relentlessly and would then leave
the temple to go and visit the other four, making
his rounds to be certain that all was in order
in each province. He would return after a month
and each time he came back, Kahli would have
the last skill he was taught down to perfection.
Kahli steadily grew in skill and power everyday.
In 5 years from the day he began, Kahli had
completely mastered the forgotten Shadow of
Buddha Palm technique only to abuse this power
for evil and personal gain. Now the new legends
of Shoalin must set out on a conquest to put
an end to Kahli's reign of terror.
Gameplay
The game mechanic is built around the traditional
action adventure genera with RPG elements and
dynamic cameras allowing for fast paced action.
Black Salt will be very easy to pick up and
learn, but difficult to master. The heart of
the game play of Black Salt is the one simple
control scheme. The same modifiers and button
combinations will be used for environmental
puzzles, character interaction, combat, and
stealth game play. Style plays a very
major role in Black Salt as players will be
rewarded for stringing combinations and air
juggles while defeating your every foe. Swapping
in between different techniques while destroying
your foe will amount into a dazzling display
for a finishing Bloodline Technique that is
unique to that character based on the chained
moves preformed. The short learning curves as
well as the new twist on a classic Action/RPG
game mechanics makes this title the perfect
candidate for a very successful next-gen title.
The core
gameplay mechanic found in Black Salt is based
around 3rd person perspective, with the option
of multi camera angles and an emphasis on sleek
hand to hand melee martial arts and weapons
combat. The combination of available viewpoints
will better portray the complexities of the
player’s vast array of attacks, and the
battlefield interactions between the player,
the AI, and the surrounding environment.
Black Salt offers non-linear game play. It is
a combination of free roaming and mission based
formats. The main structure is primarily free
roaming, however, upon the triggering of certain
events or the arrival at specific locations
game play will switch to a mission style scenario
where players will be required to travel a set
environmental path to reach a destination, acquire
an item, or seek an individual. Additionally,
there are missions and story-driven tasks that
may be completed without entering the mission
interactive structure. The player will be constantly
fighting hordes of enemies in and out of the
cities and villages. The player will be accompanied
by two to three NPC characters at a time throughout
your adventure. You will be able to use these
characters to chain and also combined attacks
in order to create devastating double team attacks.
